Wildflower Planting Project at the Traditional Garden Games Office!

  • 1 min read

In recent years there has been an increasing recognition of the importance of protecting the environment and preventing biodiversity loss.

As part of our journey towards environmental excellence, Traditional Garden Games have been busy looking at practical and cost-effective ways of how we can enhance local biodiversity, create food and homes for wildlife and reverse the trend of habitat loss.

In early 2021 we decided to create a new native wildflower garden on a small area of grass at the entrance to our Traditional Garden Games office.

Work started on the new wildflower garden in August 2021, the area was cleared and the ground was prepared for sowing.

The wildflower seed for the garden was supplied by ecoseeds.co.uk, who could supply native species, produced locally, perfect for our climate. In using these seeds not only are they more likely to grow but will also provide improved benefits to our local wildlife.

We decided to use the Pure Cottage Garden seed mix as we wanted to create an eye catching and colourful garden. Ecoseeds.co.uk recommended that we sow the mixture of wildflower seeds in Autumn, so sowing was carried out at the end of October 2021.

In June 2022 we were delighted to see our first flowers! Featuring....

Poppies, Forget-me-nots, Marigolds, Cornflowers, Daisies, Red Clover and St Johns Wart!

The team at Traditional Garden Games are buzzing to meet our new friends and neighbours!
